CNN —Over a decade after viewers said goodbye to beloved NBC series “The Office,” a new comedy set in the same universe as everyone’s favorite paper company Dunder Mifflin is coming to Peacock. Daniels and Koman will also produce the series with original “Office” creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Many cast members became household names following the widespread and early success of the series, which won five Emmys throughout its run. Like its predecessor starring Gervais, the series followed a mockumentary-style format with cast members breaking the fourth wall as a crew followed staffers around an office, capturing tedious day-to-day tasks, office romances and at-times outlandish behavior. It is not yet known if any previous cast members will make cameos in the Peacock series, which is set to begin production in July.

The actor Rainn Wilson, who is best known for playing Dwight Schrute on “The Office,” has been candid about his history with anxiety and depression. In 2008, he founded Soul Pancake, a digital media company that explores “life’s big questions” as part of his search for clarity. Now, in a new travel series, “Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss,” Wilson explores some of the world’s happiest and unhappiest places in an attempt to unlock the secrets of well-being. The show was inspired by Eric Weiner’s best-selling memoir of the same name, and Wilson’s destinations were chosen from the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s World Happiness Report, which rates life satisfaction in different nations. But he shared three things he learned that might help us in our own lives.
I became hyper-critical of myself, as if the defense attorney had set up shop in my own mind. Horrible moments of our lives and how defense attorneys frame them can become public fodder. The goal of a defense attorney seems to be to break the survivor giving testimony. I see a screenshot of text of an exchange between Carroll and Joseph Tacopina, defense attorney for Trump. Carnival Cruise Line has the most reported sexual assaults since 2010, DOT data shows. But Carnival, with a fraction of Royal's fleet size, has recorded nearly double the number of reported sexual assaults aboard its ships since 2010. On Royal Caribbean and Carnival cruises, an overwhelming majority, or 82%, of the reported sexual assaults were found to have been committed by passengers, data showed. DOT data revealed that the majority of reported sexual assaults on Princess Cruises were attributed to crew members. A 2013 congressional report found that up to a third of reported sexual assaults aboard cruise ships involved minors.
A woman sued Princess Cruises on January 3, alleging she was raped by a crew member on a ship. Princess faced a similar lawsuit in 2019 by a woman who alleged she was raped by a crew member. Princess Cruises did not immediately return Insider's request for comment. The majority of all reported sexual assaults aboard a Princess Cruises vessel since 2010 involved a crew member, according to Insider's analysis. Of 17 reported sexual-assault incidents since January 2010, Princess Cruises employees were accused in 15 cases — or about 90% of them, DOT data shows.
He bonded out of jail on Nov. 23, according to court records. Another woman who one of the police reports show accused Salata of committing a sex crime is also suing the business, according to court documents. A spokesperson for the Naples Police Department did not respond to a question about why that incident was classified as a suspicious incident. Another trio of police reports were filed Nov. 30. The Naples Police Department's investigation into Salata is ongoing, according to public information officer Lieutenant Bryan McGinn.
“The Office” star Rainn Wilson has changed his name to Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson to protest climate change. The actor made the announcement via a Twitter video on Wednesday, timed to the United Nations climate change conference COP27 in Egypt this week. “With the help of my scientist friends at Arctic Basecamp, I’ve changed my name to Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson,” Wilson said in a statement. “This is not a joke, I’m as serious as the melting Arctic, which amplifies global risks including extreme weather events around the globe.”“I’m hoping this name change brings attention to this growing… er, melting issue. Then — and this is the important part — change your social media profile or display name to match your new ArcticRisk name.
CNN —Rainn Wilson has “changed” his name and is inviting others to do the same. “The Office” actor debuted “Rainnfall Heat Wave Rising Sea Levels Wilson” on social media Thursday as a way to raise awareness about the climate control crisis. In the Twitter thread that included the video, Wilson added that he was unable to change his name on Twitter “… because Elon,” referencing guidelines implemented on the platform by new owner Elon Musk. “And if enough of us do this, then maybe @cop27_egypt will be where our world leaders sit up and notice Arctic risks and introduce a solution,” he tweeted. “Make Arctic Name Changer a Game Changer!”
'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' review

CNN —“Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” certainly earns its title, operating, appropriately, not as an actual movie biography but an outlandish parody of one, filled with comedy cameos and bizarre flights of fancy. The amusing conceit behind the entire project – expanding upon a spoof movie trailer released in 2010 – is that a Weird Al biopic functions like one of his chart-topping songs, taking the form of the genre but turning it on its head. Directed by Eric Appel (who produced the aforementioned short, and shares script credit with Yankovic, who also has a cameo), “Weird” is produced through the folks at Funny or Die. Yet even allowing for the fact that “Weird” isn’t much more than a snack, as the man in question sang, just eat it. “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” premieres November 4 on the Roku Channel.
The study authors said their research represents the largest longitudinal study of sexual assault-related visits to emergency rooms in the U.S. That could be because cultural understandings of what constitutes sexual assault have expanded beyond encounters involving extreme physical violence. In 2019, for example, there were more than 139,800 reports of sexual assault to law enforcement compared to 55,296 ER visits. Sexual assault overall makes up just 0.06% of emergency room visits, according to the study. The FBI data, meanwhile, relies on voluntary reports from law enforcement and narrow definitions of sexual assault, according to the study.
Stanford University officials must do more to prevent sexual violence, support victims and hold perpetrators accountable, sexual violence prevention advocates on campus said this week, in the wake of the second alleged rape reported in as many months at the school. Student activists have also planned a protest for Friday afternoon, sponsored by the group Sexual Violence Free Stanford. The group also sponsored the resolution passed Thursday, along with two executive members of the Associated Students of Stanford University, which represents the student body. "Sexual violence is a very challenging issue that we and all universities have been working aggressively to address," Mostofi said. Thirteen percent of all students experience sexual assault, according to RAINN, which characterizes sexual assault on campuses as "pervasive."
The Tampa Bay Lightning suspended defenseman Ian Cole after a woman accused him on social media of sexually abusing her when she was underaged, the team said Sunday night. “The Tampa Bay Lightning is aware of the allegations against player Ian Cole and are cooperating fully with the NHL on an investigation. "While we continue to gather more details, we have decided to suspend Ian Cole, with pay, pending the results of an investigation. I completely deny these allegations and will fully cooperate with the NHL and the Tampa Bay Lightning, their officials and legal departments in the forthcoming investigation," Cole said in a statement. "I look forward to clearing my name and demonstrating to the NHL and the Tampa Bay Lightning that these allegations are unfounded.
Some victims of sexual assault are paying out of pocket for their emergency room care, even though federal law requires that their forensic exams be free. The Violence Against Women Act, a federal law enacted in 1994, stipulates that people cannot be charged for a forensic exam after a sexual assault. The new research did not differentiate between costs that should be covered under federal law and other supplementary medical services. Salganicoff said several organizations that assist victims of sexual assault provide lists of hospitals with forensic exam providers. According to the KFF report, some states offer more free medical services associated with the forensic exam than others.
